Chapter 3 · Indexing of Datapoint lists (for BMS)

Protocol configuration extraction

Next is the protocol configuration extraction. Here the platform extracts the information it needs to read the datapoints.

  1. Check the result. Under Sample Input, you see a row from the file. Under Generated Output, you see the information the platform extracted from that row to read the datapoint. For BACnet, for example, the object type and object instance.

What the platform extracts depends on the communication protocol: BACnet IP needs different information than Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU. The example below is for BACnet IP.

  2. Approve or request changes. If the extracted information is right, click Approve. If not, click Request Changes, describe under What did you expect? what the output should be, and click Submit Feedback.

  3. Wait for the indexing. When you click Approve, the indexing starts. It can take several minutes.

  4. Finish. Once the classification is over, you see Classification Complete, with the number of datapoints classified and devices created. Click Done.
