Challenge

During the renovation, the gas boilers were replaced by heat pumps. The electrical peak due to the heating demand was going to exceed the building's contracted grid capacity. The alternative was a large battery system or backup diesel generators.

Approach

With Optimize Pro, a digital twin of the building and its installation was built. Based on the temperature setpoint schedules and the weather forecast, the digital twin plans the heat pumps ahead, keeping comfort levels high while peak power stays below the limit.

Result

No grid congestion since going live and comfortable rooms, all without a battery or a heavier grid connection.
